We were looking for a breed that wouldn't be just a beef producer.
Twenty years in Osoblažsko, northern Moravia. We started with whatever came to hand — crossbreeds of beef and dairy breeds, a handful of sheep. We farmed for meat. But we wanted something more.
Why Dexter?
Small frame, big personality
A mature cow weighs 320–400 kg, a bull 450–550 kg. Easy handling, fits on small pastures, half the feed of a continental breed — with the same mothering instinct.
Calm temperament
Twelve years of selection for a docile disposition. Our animals are used to people, used to being moved, used to being around children. You can walk into the field with a coffee.
Dual-purpose by design
Dexters give both quality beef (marbled, lean, flavourful) and a reasonable amount of rich milk. A rare combination that suits smallholders who want one breed for everything.
Hardy outdoor grazers
Year-round on pasture, no winter housing needed (just shelter and good hay). Thrives on what taller breeds would refuse — rough grazing, steep slopes, marginal land.

- 2004
Beginning
We start farming in Osoblažsko, northern Moravia. Buying the first pastures. First cattle: crossbreeds of beef and dairy breeds. A few sheep alongside.
- 2006
Beef herd
We bring in Blonde d'Aquitaine and Simmental bulls. Breeding for meat. But we're looking for something calmer for a family farm.
- 2012
Dexters arrive in Czechia
Karel Roden introduces the Dexter breed to Czechia — the very first animals in the country. We start getting interested in the breed.
- 2014
Our first Dexters
We import a breeding bull and four in-calf heifers from Denmark. Among the first Dexter breeders in Czechia. The breed delivers everything we hoped for.

Performance recording
All animals registered with the ČSCHMS herdbook. Full records, pedigrees, health monitoring.
- 2022
Martin Tichý Sr.
Martin Tichý Sr., founder of the farm, passes away in February. The farm stands above all in his memory. The family carries on.
- 2025
120+ Dexters
Four breeding herds with calves and bulls, a bullocks' group, a seasonal heifers' herd. One of the largest Dexter breeders in Czechia.

Today
We sell registered bulls and heifers across Europe. Still a family affair — Soňa, Tereza and Martin.
